    General Manager

    Joining the team at St. Olaf was full circle for me. For 18 months I was the Board Manager for Stav Hall. After taking a leave to venture out and acquire different experiences, I then returned as the Director of Operations, and now love my current role as General Manager. A lot of the same faces are still here, which says a lot about the commitment and loyalty that our staff has to the college. St. Olaf is a beautiful campus and a wonderful community to be a part of. It is a great pleasure that I have the opportunity to be a part of this talented team up on the hill.

    I have always had a connection with food and chefs. Growing up, my Saturday morning television was the likes of Julia Child and Martin Yan. I loved cartoons, but I loved watching cooking shows more. I always thought to my self “some day I want to be a chef.” I started washing dishes at 15, flipping pizzas by 16 and the rest is history. I was hooked. I love working with Bon Appétit, and I love the connection and relationship we have developed with the College. One of my favorite things is reading comment cards such as this, after a long break: “I missed you guys soooo much!!!”
    Love it.

    Why am I a Chef? I love to cook and help students with dietary needs. I’ve been working in food service since 1999 with Bon Appétit. I have learned the importance of using local sustainable ingredients. Working at a college with very appreciative students makes it all worthwhile.

    I have been baking for 30 years, (in hotels, fine dining restaurants, and bakeries) and I really have found a home at St. Olaf College and Bon Appétit. When I went to college, food service was nothing to talk about, but working with Bon Appétit we use the finest ingredients, local foods, and our initiatives guarantee that we are doing all of this responsibly. Every day is a new challenge, writing fun seasonal menus, assisting with special diets, and developing new special events for students in the dining hall. Baking is my life, and I couldn’t imagine finding a better place then St. Olaf College and Bon Appétit to come to every day and prepare all of our desserts, cookies, and breads.

    I have been in the event and catering industry since 2008 and with Bon Appétit for four of those. I enjoy putting smiles on people’s faces through great service and wonderful food. I feel fortunate to come to work every day and work with our talented Bon Appétit team. Working as the Catering Director for Bon Appétit at St. Olaf College is truly my dream job!

    I have been with the company since 2008, starting in The Cage and moving around until I found my home in catering. I love working for a company that is so passionate about sustainability and food quality. The sense of community here at Bon Appétit and St. Olaf College makes coming to work something to look forward to everyday.

    Retail Manager

    My restaurant experience extends all the way back to high school, when I cooked at a local café. In the ensuing years, I continued to work in various restaurants, while also obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree in hotel and restaurant management. Since college, I furthered my knowledge of the restaurant industry by working in a variety of culinary environments. In 2003, I began my tenure with Bon Appétit, starting on the culinary side and eventually becoming the Retail Manager of the Cage. I enjoy working on the hill with the students and staff, giving great customer service, and offering food that is of the highest quality, sustainable, and local.

    Assistant Retail Manager

    I have worked for Bon Appétit at St. Olaf College since 2006. I began as server in Stav Hall and frequently helped out our catering department with many events. From there, I branched out into working as a cook in both Stav and in the Cage kitchen. While perfecting my cooking skills, I ventured into cashiering to utilize my customer service skills. In 2012, I became a Retail Supervisor in the Cage until moving into the Assistant Retail Manager position in August of 2013. With such a vast array of food service experience, and working with such a great team, I can’t imagine working anywhere else!

    My food service experience began over 30 years ago while attending college. I didn’t plan on staying in the industry but once you’re in it you find yourself with a “family” of people who have the same passions as yourself, excellent food with the best guest service. My background is casual dining, working my way from a server to General Manager. I needed to get out of the crazy hours and found my new “family” with Bon Appetit, here at St. Olaf. What a game changer! Working with the staff and students is so much fun – and the food – everyone is passionate about fresh, local, sustainable food that looks and tastes fantastic.
